The R&D building of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena has a facial recognition system

The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (Murcia) has implemented and launched a facial recognition system in the R&D D+I of the Muralla del Mar Campus, to identify the authorized personnel of the facilities, while verifying that all thePeople who access are wearing the mask.

This solution is part of a pilot program that has begun the university to launch the new access control system of the facilities.In this way, the system will allow to know the level of occupation in the buildings, will support safety tasks and offer truthful information for evacuation plans and eviction contingencies.

The installed system uses a facial biometric identification procedure that requires the prior capture of users' biometric data.The captured data generate a unique geometric pattern for each user and invalid to rebuild their facial image.

Registration in the biometric system

The members of the PAS and PDI access to the R&D building can record their facial biometric identification at the entrance to the old antigones barracks, through a simple and self -managed process, with instructions of the steps to follow that are being shown on screen.To initiate registration, a personal QR code is required, which can be printed or used directly from a mobile device to identify.

The entrance to the R&D building is carried out by identification in the facial recognition terminal located at the entrance of the same.The output of the R&D building can continue to be carried out using automatic opening by proximity of the main door, although users also identify in the facial recognition terminal located at the exit of the building.

The objective of the pilot program is to verify the correct operation of the installed equipment and the developed software, as well as identify possible improvements for the implementation of the system on a larger scale.
