PHOTOS: She is "Tlalli", the sculpture of an Olmec woman who will be in Reforma

The sculpture "Tlalli" was criticized on social networks, while the sculptor Pedro Reyes assured that it incorporates various elements of pre-Hispanic sculpture.

Mexico City, September 9 (However) .- Pedro Reyes, author of the sculpture of the Olmec woman that will replace the statue of Christopher Columbus on the Paseo de la Reforma, in Mexico City, gave more details about said piece .

Reyes revealed in an interview for Telediario, that the name of the sculpture is "Tlalli" which in Nahuatl means "Earth".

In addition, he explained that when he was entrusted with the task he sought to make the Olmec head, however, he acknowledges that the greatest challenge he had was to change its gender. "What I was looking for was to incorporate elements and I was looking a lot for pre-Hispanic sculpture," he said.
