An improved Face ID, Apple's goal
In a patent that has been recently registered by Apple, a new facial recognition system is shown. This has been titled 'Hybrid Mode Lighting for Facial Recognition Authentication'. What he conceives is the use of a combination of infrared lighting that models the face of users who stand in front of the front camera. All the data that would be obtained would generate an illuminated pattern of the users face with a depth map system. In this way, the smallest detail that exists in a face will be perfectly recorded in order to increase security. Such would be the detail that would be recorded that in the patent they state that even the specks on the face could remain inside the device.
This is not the first patent that has been filed to improve device security. A few months ago a report was made public where a system was proposed to be able to read the arteries and veins that exist in the face. This is something that is also unique in each of the users and combined with this facial recognition that we have discussed through infrared light, greater security would finally be achieved, although right now it is quite successful, especially in comparison with Touch ID.
