A 42-year-old woman and her two children poisoned by monoxide die in León

A 42-year-old woman and her two children, ages 4 and 9, have died as a result of poisoning, apparently by carbon monoxide from a wood-fired boiler, at their home in the town of Carbajal de la Legua, in the Leonese municipality of Sariegos, very close to León capital.

As reported this Friday by sources from the Government Subdelegation, the 112 emergency service received a call last night around 11:00 p.m. requesting assistance for three people who were unconscious in a single-family home in the El Soto urbanization in this town. from the outskirts of the Leonese capital.

The mayor of the municipality, Roberto Aller, has specified that it was the husband of the woman who lost her life and the father of the minors, who was on a work trip, who asked a neighbor to come to his home after carrying all afternoon trying to contact his family without success.

Upon arriving at the house, this neighbor verified that the light was on and he observed the three bodies lying on the floor through a window, so he broke the glass to gain access to its interior.

It was this neighbor who alerted 112, which mobilized the Civil Guard (COS), and the Emergencies Sanitarias-Sacyl, which sent a mobile ICU, a basic life support ambulance and health personnel from the Trobajo del Camino health center, according to Emergency Service sources.

Before the arrival of the health personnel, the daughter of this neighbor, a medical student, and another neighbor who is a nurse tried to revive the victims without success.

Given the possibility that it was carbon monoxide poisoning, the León Fire Department and the central gas supply companies were also alerted.

The agencies indicated upon arrival at the house that it was supposed to be an intoxication whose origin could be a wood boiler in the home.

The health personnel confirmed the death of the three people affected by the poisoning at the scene of the event.

Although everything indicates that the death was due to intoxication, the Civil Guard has opened an investigation to determine what happened. It is planned that throughout the morning the autopsy will be performed on the three victims.
